St. Michael’s DCC Visits Knock Shrine

Recently, St Michaels DCC ventured to visit Knock Shrine, County Mayo. This trip was planned for September 2023 but unfortunately Storm Agnes changed our plans.  Knock is one of the most iconic attractions in Mayo and has been visited from people across the world since the 19th century, and this venue was well chosen by our members.

We were delighted with a dry day and great company for our trip, as we stopped along the way to admire the beauty of Oranmore over tea and scones.  We attended the 3:00pm service and blessings, toured around the grounds and even managed a little shopping before heading back to our awaiting buses.

We had singsongs and quizzes along the way and topped our day off with a special tea in the Inn at Dromoland.

St Michael’s DCC celebrated its 25th year in operation in 2023 and continues to be a stable entity within our community, not only locally, but in the surrounding towns and villages. The vision created all those years ago was to foster friendship and engagement within our rural setting and to ensure everyone has a place of value among us.  It’s continued success is testament to the backing and commitment we receive from our local community. It is this support that allows St Michaels DCC to offer such an engaging environment for the seniors among us, supporting them to live a full life as actively engaged citizens within our community.

Our members remain enthusiastic and involved in a wide variety of activities in a safe and homely setting. This support is evidence of the sheer value and respect our community places on all its citizens.
